SCMA Now Accepting President & CEO Applications

The South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance is looking for a dynamic leader to serve as our President & CEO.

At SCMA, we preserve and promote the economic health of manufacturing industries in South Carolina by seeking positive actions within state government. Ideal candidates to serve as President & CEO will have experience developing legislative strategies that support and educate state and local officials on issues affecting the sustainability and economic growth of manufacturing industries with our state.

SC Manufacturers Alliance President & CEO

Reports to the SCMA Board of Directors and job location is Columbia, SC.

Minimal Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree

- 10 years’ experience in relevant industry


- Develop strategies and plans to implement short-term and long-term objectives

- Oversee all operations and business activities

- Develop and implement annual budget

- Oversee and review monthly financial progress and status

- Oversee and manage all financial functions of the association

- Lead and manage SCMA personnel, including ultimate responsibility for all human resource issues

- Manage SCMA benefits plans

- Serve as trustee for the association pension plan

Association Management:


- Develop and execute strategies to grow and maintain membership

- Principal developer of relationships with prospective and existing members

- Maintain a deep knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing industry

Legislative and Political:

- Collaborate with the Vice President of Governmental Affairs to develop legislative strategies and agendas

- Oversee the implementation of legislative strategies

- Manage South Carolina Good Government Fund, the SCMA’s political action committee

- Serve as the point of contact for the lobbyist principal registration with the SC Ethics Commission

- Responsible for ensuring all ethics filings required under South Carolina law are accurately completed and submitted on time to the SC Ethics Commission


- Serve as spokesperson for the association, providing quotes to the media on key issues

- Compose articles and opinion editorials for newspapers and magazines

- Give speeches to various organizations and groups throughout the year

- Provide Alliance updates at SCMA meetings and events

- Collaborate with other associations and industry groups 

- Develop strategic relationships with key partners and various manufacturing stakeholders


- Oversee the implementation of all SCMA meetings, conferences, and events

- Develop new meeting concepts 

- Identify industry recognition opportunities

- Implement new initiatives based on trends and changing needs in the manufacturing industry

- Drive SCMA’s Workforce development initiatives, including SC Future Makers
